Alan Dodge is former Director of the Art Gallery of Western Australia. He came to Australia from the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. in 1974 and joined the fledgling Australian National Gallery where he stayed for 21 years. Alan was subsequently appointed Director of the Art Gallery of Western Australia (1997 – 2007). In 2004 Alan was awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government. He is an Honorary Fellow at Edith Cowan University and is a Doctor of Letters at Murdoch University. Alan currently sits on a number of arts boards and his writings on art and theatre have appeared in numerous publications.
