Tristan und Isolde in Perth

Under the baton of Asher Fisch, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra continues its presentation of Wagner’s masterpieces with the dramatic, philosophical and profoundly influential opera, Tristan und Isolde.

The 1865 opera arguably set the tone for all Western music in the ensuing decades, and while some composers sought to imitate it and some reacted against it, none could ignore it. Attend a special talk to deepen your understanding of this great dramatic opera.

Enjoy a day trip past the forests abutting Perth to the charming town of York, Western Australia’s oldest inland settlement. Dating back to the Western Australian Gold Rush in the 1890s, York is one of the State’s historic gems with fine examples of civic and commercial architecture.
