Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland©
When Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland© arrived on the stage in 2011 with a burst of colour, theatrical magic and inventive choreography, it was The Royal Ballet’s first new full-length work since 1995 and was greeted with delight by audiences. Joby Talbot’s score combines contemporary sound worlds with sweeping melodies that gesture to ballet scores of the 19th century. Bob Crowley’s wildly imaginative sets and costumes draw on puppetry, projections and masks to make Wonderland wonderfully real.
Described as a ‘dazzling extravaganza’ by the Daily Telegraph (UK) Christopher Wheeldon’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland© will be The Australian Ballet’s major new production for 2017. See the premiere season of this work ‘down under’ combined with a visit to Melbourne in the spring.
Arrive in Melbourne and check-in to the Langham Southbank Hotel.
Tour arrangements begin with a visit to the Australian Ballet’s new purpose-built production centre at Altona (2.00 – 4.30 pm).
