Wagner and Beyond

In the lead up to the orchestra’s 90th birthday in 2018, in 2017 West Australian Symphony Orchestra embarks on a two-year journey of discovery of the music of Richard Wagner, the composers Wagner influenced and those who inspired him.

Under the title ‘Wagner and Beyond’ and under the baton of Asher Fisch, Principal Conductor and Artistic Adviser, the journey begins in 2017 with two concerts featuring the music of Marschner, Schumann, Liszt Bruckner, Chabrier, R. Strauss and Wagner – including major orchestral excerpts from Der Ring des Nibelugen.

Between the concerts, explore Perth’s vibrant art scene, public and private, and see the magnificent WA wildflowers at their peak in and around Perth.

NB. The journey continues in 2018 with two concert performances of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. Details available August 2017.
