In Istanbul, once Roman Constantinople and later the heart of the Byzantine and Ottoman empires, explore the city’s layered legacy, from the monumental Hagia Sophia to the grand mosques that crown the city’s seven hills.
Beyond the Bosphorus, travel through the landscapes of western Anatolia to the great classical cities of Troy, Pergamum, Ephesus and Izmir. Here, powerful goddess cults flourished for centuries, leaving temples and other structures that reveal the spiritual and civic life of the ancient Mediterranean.
At Aphrodisias and Hierapolis, encounter the enduring legacy of Aphrodite and other deities whose worship shaped the artistic and intellectual life of the region, before ending on the Mediterranean coast in Antalya, where classical ruins meet the luminous waters of the Turkish Riviera.
