In the company of art historian Lorraine Kypiotis, begin with a private visit to Ken Done’s studio in Chinaman’s Beach on Sydney’s lower North Shore. Join Ken in person as he discusses his instantly recognisable style as well as his long practice as a painter, and the influence of Matisse’s signature verve on his creative process and approach.
Then, enjoy a private tour of the Art Gallery of New South Wales’ outstanding exhibition, Matisse: Life & Spirit, guided by Lorraine. Organised in conjunction with the Centre Pompidou, Paris, and unique to Sydney, the exhibition features over 100 works, including paintings, drawings, sculptures and cut-outs. It is the largest exhibition in Sydney ever dedicated to the master’s extraordinary creative range and depth.
