Itinerary

Arrive in Melbourne on suggested flights. Renaissance Tours or your travel agent can assist you with your flights and other travel arrangements, including flights, a private transfer to the hotel, a room category upgrade and pre-tour accommodation.

At 11:30 am, meet your tour leader Peter Bourne at The Langham Melbourne Hotel on the Southbank and transfer by coach to the Mornington Peninsula, enjoying a light lunch enroute. Delight in a wine tasting at Moorooduc Estate, known for its minimal intervention winemaking. Their complex wines have awarded the estate with a prestigious five-star rating in James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion.

Arrive at the hotel in the late afternoon. Later, enjoy dinner at Doot Doot Doot restaurant, where Executive Chef Michael Wickham develops methodical but explorative dishes supported by a curated wine list.

This morning, visit Montalto Winery, owned by the Mitchell family since 1997 for a private tasting of the wines that have gained this winery the award of Halliday Red Five Star on the Mornginton Peninsula.

Continue to Pt Leo Estate for lunch and enjoy some time at leisure to wander around the manicured sculpture park, featuring works by artists such as Yayoi Kusama, KAWS and George Rickey, among others.

Afterwards, continue to Stonier Wines, a winery acquired by three local families in 2022, famous for its 1999 Reserve Chardonnay, which won Best Chardonnay and Best White Wine of Show at the 2001 International Wine Challenge.

Tonight, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Today, drive to the nearby Foxeys Hangout and join sparkling winemaker Michael Lee for a private tutorial in the final stages of making fine sparkling wine, a process known as ‘disgorgement’.

Continue to Port Phillip Estate, a specialist Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir producer, for a wine tasting and lunch at the winery’s restaurant. Later, enjoy a wine tasting at Crittenden Estate with Rollo Crittenden, the founders’ son and now general manager, winemaker and vineyard manager of the estate.

Return to the hotel in the afternoon and enjoy dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.

This morning, enjoy a wine tasting at Quealy winemakers, pioneers in the Australian wine industry, as the first to plant Friulano, an Italian grape variety closely related to Sauvignon Blanc.

Afterwards, visit Main Ridge Dairy to see how this Australian-owned and -operated farm has been crafting award-winning goat cheeses since 2001. Enjoy a cheese tasting before returning to the hotel in the early afternoon.

This evening, join Peter and fellow travellers for a farewell dinner at Ten Minutes by Tractor, an award-winning restaurant with two chef hats.
