Mahler Festival 2021
Join classical music broadcaster Mairi Nicolson in Leipzig for the unique opportunity to hear Mahler’s complete symphonies and other orchestral works performed by world-class orchestras at a rarely-staged festival of Mahler.
Hosted by the Gewandhaus Orchestra, the festival will feature performances by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic orchestras and the London Symphony Orchestra among other renowned ensembles and soloists.
The 2021 festival offers a particularly authentic experience, as for two years Gustav Mahler lived and worked in Leipzig, where he composed his first symphony and conducted the Gewandhaus Orchestra daily for the Leipzig Opera.
Alongside festival performances visit museums and other sights in and around Leipzig and explore the city which has produced so many of Germany’s greatest composers.
