Following its successful debut in 2025, the brainchild of former Opera Australia Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini AM, Handa Opera at Millthorpe returns for an intimate, four-day operatic festival, featuring a mix of concerts, recitals and in-conversation sessions over the Easter weekend.

Get up close and personal with some of Australia’s finest singers, including Natalie Aroyan, Diego Torre and Stacey Alleaume, who perform some of opera’s most-loved arias, while celebrated Italian bass-baritone Ferruccio Furlanetto performs an intimate recital program.

The performances take place in the NSW Central West village of Millthorpe, located close to the state’s gourmet capital of Orange.

Meet tour leader Mairi Nicolson and fellow travellers at the rear entrance of the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney at 9:00am. Then, travel by coach from Sydney to Orange with a stop en-route for lunch.

This evening, enjoy dinner at the hotel.

This morning, attend a pre-performance talk with Mairi. Then, indulge the taste buds at a local winery with a wine tasting followed by lunch.

In the late afternoon, depart for the village of Millthorpe and experience an intimate recital by acclaimed Italian bass-baritone Ferruccio Furlanetto, known for his rich voice and profound dramatic interpretations. Throughout his long career, he has performed with the world’s leading opera houses and conductors, including Herbert von Karajan and Leonard Bernstein (program to be announced).

After the performance, return to the hotel for a late supper.

This morning, transfer to Millthorpe for an exclusive in-conversation session with Ferruccio Furlanetto hosted by Lyndon Terracini. Then, enjoy a performance by renowned pianist André Desponds before returning to the hotel (program to be announced).

In the late afternoon, return to Millthorpe and attend the opening Gala Concert, featuring iconic opera arias and duets, all accompanied by the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Paul Terracini (program to be announced).

Hear Mexican-Australian tenor Diego Torre as Riccardo, Australian baritone Andrew Williams as Renato and Armenian-Australian soprano Natalie Aroyan as Amelia.
