After the success of previous years, the Tasmanian Chamber Music Festival returns with seven concerts performed in two central locations, the Ian Potter Recital Hall and the St. George’s Anglican Church.

Delight in a program of music ranging from Bach to early modern and contemporary works performed by some of Australia’s finest chamber ensembles and soloists, including the Chroma Quartet, Van Diemen’s Band, pianists Piers Lane and Aura Go, cellist Li-Wei Qin and violinist Emily Sun.

Itinerary

Arrive in Hobart on suggested flights and make your way to the hotel. Renaissance Tours or your travel agent can assist you with your flights and other travel arrangements, including a private transfer to the hotel, accommodation before or after the tour and a room category upgrade.

At 16:00, join tour leader Marshall McGuire for a welcome briefing and talk in the hotel about this evening’s performance. Then, attend the opening concert of the Tasmanian Chamber Music Festival at the St. George’s Anglican Church in historic Battery Point, featuring the renowned Van Diemen’s Band, alongside American tenor Kyle Steggall.

Begin the day with a pre-performance talk by Marshall. Later, enjoy lunch at one of Hobart’s fine restaurants before walking to the Ian Potter Recital Hall. Two highly acclaimed Australian musicians, pianist Aura Go and virtuoso flautist Joshua Battty, perform French and Argentinian music and seldom-performed Latin American works.

Return to the hotel for some time at leisure before walking back to the Ian Potter Recital Hall for a performance by internationally renowned Australian pianist Piers Lane, returning to the festival to perform a full-length solo recital.

Return to the hotel for some time at leisure before attending another performance at the Ian Potter Recital Hall. Pianist Piers Lane will be joined by violinist Emily Sun, in her festival debut, to perform works by French composers including Debussy, Poulenc and Franck.
