This morning attend a pre-performance talk by Marshall, before transferring to the historic house of Lindesay in the harbourside suburb of Darling Point. Enjoy a private guided tour of Sydney’s oldest Gothic-Revival style home and wander through the rooms which once housed some of New South Wales’ most colourful figures, including Sir Charles Nicholson, one of the founders of the University of Sydney. The sweeping garden surrounding the main house extends to the water and was designed to recreate popular 19th century styles, in keeping with the house’s vintage.
After lunch enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at leisure to relax or explore Sydney at your own pace.
This evening, attend the second performance in the final round of the Sydney International Piano Competition at Sydney Town Hall.
Begin today with a visit to the Art Gallery of New South Wales to view the exhibition of the 2020 Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes. This annual exhibition represents the best portraits, landscapes and genre paintings produced in Australia each year and provides an outstanding visual catalogue of contemporary Australian culture.
Enjoy lunch at Chiswick at the Gallery Restaurant, which offers views over Sydney Harbour. After lunch, return to the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure.
This morning explore the riches and curiosities of the State Library of NSW on a private guided tour of both the Macquarie Street building and the historic Mitchell Library. Learn about the architectural features, stained glass windows, bronze doors and conclude with a visit to the beautiful Tudor-style Shakespeare Room.
The afternoon is at leisure to relax or explore Sydney at your own pace. You might like to visit one of Sydney’s other outstanding cultural institutions, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art or the White Rabbit Gallery.
This evening attend the penultimate performance of the final round of the Sydney International Piano Competition.
Begin the day with a pre-performance talk by Marshall before a morning at leisure. In the early afternoon, walk to the Sydney Town Hall and attend the last performance of the final round of the Sydney International Piano Competition.
While the judges deliberate, attend a special farewell dinner with Marshall and fellow tour members in a nearby restaurant. After dinner, return to the Sydney Town Hall for the Competition Awards Ceremony and witness the announcement of the winners as careers are made and hopes fulfilled for one of the competition’s outstanding contestants.
