Andrew Wright studied dance full-time at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, before completing his ballet training at The Australian Ballet School where he graduated as Dux in 2003. He joined The Australian Ballet in 2004 under Artistic Director David McAllister AM and was promoted to coryphée in 2008. That year also saw him nominated for the Telstra Ballet Dancer of the Year Award. A promotion to Soloist came in 2012, before retiring from the stage in 2018. Over his career, Andrew danced a wide range of principal and featured roles in both classical and contemporary works, touring widely with the company. He appeared as a guest artist at the Oregon Ballet Theater’s 2010 Gala and as Basilio for the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s 2015 national tour of Don Quixote. Following his dancing career, Andrew continues his association with The Australian Ballet as Philanthropy Manager.
