CJ Johnson is President of the Film Critics Circle of Australia. He has studied at Brown University, The American Repertory Theatre Institute of Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University, the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS). He is the film critic for Mornings on ABC Radio, a contributing editor for METRO Magazine, and Head Lecturer in Screen Storytelling at Sydney Film School. CJ is a Golden Globes Voter, a member of FIPRESCI, and lectures on cinema regularly at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and other prestigious institutions. A specialist in French and European cinema, he served on the jury of the 47th Norwegian International Film Festival in 2019 and on that of the 69th Oberhausen Short Film Festival, Germany, in 2023.
