Mark Dickenson has lived in Tasmania his entire life, with much of his childhood and early adult years on the North West and West coasts. His passion for bushwalking led to an interest in the history of the area and he has written books on the subject. He wrote In and out of the Cradle in 1988 and co-authored Day Walks in Tasmania in 2000 to assist others in their exploration of Tasmania’s mountains.
Mark started gardening as a teenager on a family farm in the rich, red volcanic soils of North West Tasmania. He continues to grow his own vegetables and fruit trees and is currently experimenting with the propagation of pomegranates. He also has a collection of bonsai, many raised from local seed. Mark has resided in the south of the state for the last 30 years, which has given him opportunities to explore the many historical and scenic sites.
